thing 11

Libraries need to offer IM because it can be beneficial for customers who can not easily commute to the library for different reasons. Young people and the elderly can benefit from this service. It can be quite a convenience for all. IM is a different communication channel because it can be more personal and not face to face. The inhibition factor would not enter into the equation for most people asking the questions.

thing 10

The search tool I found easiest in this exercise was Topix. Syndic8 was a bit confusing for my taste. The preferred method for finding feeds that I liked better was actually looking for specific feeds on web pages. I enjoy clicking on the orange boxes!

thing 9

The thing I like about RSS feeds is how all the feeds can be read so quickly. This should help when we need to assist our customers with their needs in our library. It is very nice not having to go from web page to web page to retrieve news. It is really simple!

Learning 2.0

2.0 Technology for the future. Learning 2.0 will enable me to assist all of our library customers with their future needs. The 30 things has been a challenge for me. I am normally a patient person but the directions for this exercise has been confusing for me. My eyes and brain are overwhelmed. I have come to realize I am a step by step person as far as directions go. I will somehow conquer and go forward into the future. Eventually I will have fun!

7 1/2 habits

I have to admit the easiest habit for me is number 7 1/2. Yes, I do like to play. It helps with the stress factor. Music and gardening are some of my play time and of course reading books. My favortie play time is in the summer when the beach calls my name.

The hardest habit for me is number 6. Technology is very challenging and constantly changing.
It is very important to keep updated with the present changes on a daily basis. This will be a personal goal for me to ensure the most current information for the library customer and myself. I have to admit this has been an adventure to post this blog excercise. I trust it will enchance my skills personally and for all of our future customers in library land.
