At last

In conclusion of this 2.0 program, I strongly have two suggestions. If our library system ever chooses to participate in another program of this intensity my first suggestion is to plan a better time frame. An example would be January to March perhaps. The holiday season is stressful enough without adding something else on our plates. My second suggestion would hopefully to have more detailed instructions for the non computer experts. There are some of us whose computer skills have yet to be technologically perfected.

I must say with the help of two very helpful co-workers I completed this program.
It was a challenge and hopefully I will expand my technological skills in the future.
This 2.0 program was an expectation from us and not necessarily a choice.

Thing 29

My favorite exercises were spell with flickr and you tube. I also liked playing with the chinese name generator. I need to discover exercises that are visual. I must say this has encouraged me to expolore places I never would have before. This program has affected me by learning new goals. I really enjoyed viewing other co workers blogs. There are many creative library workers ! Thing 28 could have been fun but it wasn't working at the time of my exercise. I will search and use at a later date. Two discoveries that I shared were spell with flickr and chinese name generator.

thng 27

I tried to finish this exercise by cataloging my first five books and kept getting a message-be back in 5 minutes. I wanted to create and finish today. This seems interesting to me but I suppose I will try another day. I tried at least two to three times. This will happen sometime in the future.

rollyo

Rollyo can be used frequently to help save time. I can imagine using this source to save time for listing several sites or subjects. It can be helpful to list and not have to constantly look up each individual site. Using bookmarks to create as a timesaver.

image generator

This is my name in Chinese. I enjoyed finding the chinese name generator. I have always been interested in names and this is a fun choice. The brain teaser was fun also. The chinese name generator and the tibetan name generator will be memorable.

podcasting library

The choice I chose to listen to was very interesting. Arizona State University podcast the true story of one of Arizona's legends. It was known as the trunk murderess-Winnie Ruth Judd. The podcast worked because it seemed to be almost like a reference interview about their photo exhibit and true facts on this intriguing lady and her two room mates. She transported the two dead bodies on a train to California.
It created a stink so to speak! This particular podcast was of interest because of the history and factual event.

podcasts

This exercise was not successful. I tried all three choices and could not get into the sites. Every time I tried it asked for websense passwords. I tried several times with no luck. Needless to say I just wanted to move on.

You tube video

This exercise was fun to visually find. There are so many choices to choose from. It took me a while to decide. My first choice was perfect but no longer available. I now have learned how to help customers in the future. Hummingbirds are nature and creation at it's best!

spell with flickr

I discovered spell with flickr and love it. It is so much fun.
This is my favorite game like visual. I can truly share this
with others with pleasure. I like to imagine what else can
be done with creating this exciting eye appealing art work.

tags + flickr

Considering I do not have much knowledge with other photosharing websites, it is kind of a conflict for me to compare. Tagging seems to be important because it allows a quick reference point to name the photo and to organize several that may look alike. It is a shortcut and time saving.

flickr

This flickr exercise has been one of my favortie things. I enjoy viewing pictures because I have always been a visual person. It is fun. The only downside is one can spend an extreme amount of time and never get to an ending. The choice of visiting another library and flickr was interesting also. I discovered the actress Jennifer Garner and her daughter Violet visiting a library in California. It was refreshing to see this picture! The picture that I chose for my blog is of a flower that is special to me.

web 2.0 awards

The web 2.0 awards is workable for me. I chose one of the health and medical listings. This listing informed and was easier to use than other choices I have used in the past. I would recommend this listing to others. The other choice was a music listing called Pandora. I liked this because it gave the option of personalizing the music of my taste. You can almost make your own music station. The format was easy on my eyes.

tecnorati

Tecnorati is not streamlined enough for me. The flow just isn't easy on my eyes. It seems too busy to read and digest. Reading everyones blogs on this page is too time consuming for my taste. I will suggest this search tool for customers who blog regularly.

del.icio.us

Del.icio.us can be used on any computer. This is a time saver. Bookmarking previously could only be saved on one computer. Access can now be used on any computer and this is an improvement. It allows to share and simplify. One good point is it organizes favorite links. I suppose it can be used for research but I see it as an easier way to create bookmarks.

My space

My space may be popular with most people but I am not one of them. Personally I have no interest at this time. My spare time is spent differently...Books...Nature. Perhaps in the future I might change my mind on this subject. Time will tell.
If we as a system, want to involve our teens on a continual basis then my answer is yes. We need to connect with our teens. This would keep them interested in our library. It can be scary but surely there can be some sort of guidelines on both sides. It should be workable. Social networking is the way to go for our young adults. We need to jump on the band wagon and keep up.

This exercise was a little challenging for me. It was not the easiest experience. I like readers advisory but this wiki book review was a little different in the sense of inserting and typing without changing other peoples reviews by mistake. It can be a little unsettling but I believe I overcame my anxiety.
This exercise was a little diffferent for me. I like readers advisory but putting in a wiki book review was a little challenging. It was a learning experience. It was not my easiest exercise but I hope to remember how to explain this process for future endeavors.

Wiki land can change our view daily. The two that I enjoyed and found colorful and factual was Princton and Bull Run. The others were too wordy for my taste. I prefer wiki's that are more
visual and eye appealing with color blocks and information versus the plain print. The format seems easier on my eyes. The fact that anyone can add informaton to wikis can be a little liberal and interesting at the same time.

Instant messaging will save time and be efficient for customers and staff.
I can see why all the young people are really into this service. IM and ask the library
will be popular with anonymity and time restraints. I was impressed with the ask the library instant messaging.
